Cross Country Skiing

With more than 9 miles of groomed trails, Farragut offers easy terrain and great views of the lake. Located on the southern tip of Lake Pend Oreille, about 40 minutes driving time from Sandpoint via U.S. Highway 95, Farragut is a crown jewel of Idaho’s state parks.

Sandpoint Winter Carnival

The Sandpoint Winter Carnival has been held every year since February of 1973. This party up north is the perfect way to celebrate winter, with events such as restaurant tours, ski and board parties, bonfires, a Parade of Lights, sleigh rides, and concerts featuring big-time artists.

Snowmobiling

For those with their own ‘cats, the Sandpoint Winter Riders Snowmobile Club recommends checking out Roman Nose peak, the Sundance Fire area near Bonners Ferry, Drew Creek Loop, Pearson Creek, Upper Pack River and Trestle Creek. Finish up with a relaxing dip in Ruby's indoor hot tub after a long day out!

Summer

Fishing

Do you like to fish? If so, plan on staying around Sandpoint and its surrounding waters for a while, because you could spend a lifetime learning the ins and outs of Sandpoint's fishing. The trout in the area are big and easy to find!

Lake Activities

When visiting Sandpoint, make it a point to rent a boat and discover why so many people have fallen in love with the area. If you're uncomfortable navigating on unknown waters, take a fishing charter or a scenic cruise. The Pack River and Priest River also provide kayakers plenty of great water to play on.

Golf

Playing the Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course "The Idaho Club" provides golfers a stern test of their game. For those wishing a more moderate game the Elks course in Sandpoint or Mirror Lake toward Bonners Ferry offer a very competitive and challenging golfing experience.
